Activities, sports and leisure Luxembourg
The national tourist office offers a series of thematic brochures for download: “Sites and attractions”, “Sport and well-being”, “Nature”.
With a pedestrian network of 5 km and more than 000 walks and marked trails in the 500 regions of the country, the Grand Duchy is a true paradise for hikers. Almost every village has a network of paths and topographic maps and guides are numerous to guide the walker.
Among the international trails passing through the Grand Duchy, let us point out the E3, which enters Luxembourg through Martelange, passes through the Eifel and the Ardennes to reach Germany. As for the E2, it descends from the Netherlands to join the Mediterranean, crosses the Oesling and the Eifel and enters France at Rumelange.
For eco-friendly walkers, the CFL (national railway company) publishes a guide to walking and cycling routes from one station to another (to be ordered online for € 19). There are also youth hostel trails connecting them all.
Information also from the Luxembourg Alpine Club.
There too, the national network is very dense, with no less than 575 km marked out which allow you to discover all of Luxembourg's landscapes. Remember, however, that you will not be driving in the flat country! Luxembourg is a territory of valleys and hills, so it is better to plan a few speeds on your bicycle. As with hiking, there is a practical booklet listing 40 cycle routes across the country. Also note that the transport of the bicycle is authorized and free on all trains in the country.
It should be remembered that the CFL publishes a guide to walking and cycling routes with a station as the point of departure and arrival.
For climbing enthusiasts, several walls near Berdorf in the Müllerthal region allow you to practice this sport in a beautiful wooded environment.
Information from the Luxembourg Alpine Club.
The rivers of the Ardennes, the Moselle, the Alzette, the Basse-Sûte and part of the Haute-Sûre lake are perfect for practicing this sport.
