Which district to choose to stay in Dijon?
First of all, I suggest you take an overview of the different neighborhoods in which you can stay in Dijon. We will see in the following part some surrounding towns, apart from Dijon, but which may prove to be a wise choice depending on the reason for your visit to the city of the Dukes.
Historic city center of Dijon
Let's start with the flagship district of the city: the historic city center of Dijon, classified as a protected area. If you come to discover the city, then I recommend that you give priority to this district. You will have the advantage of being close to many interesting places: visits to museums, squares and pedestrian streets, bars and restaurants, various shops, the market, etc. This area is ideal for visiting the city and above all, live it!
In addition, the hyper center is quite concentrated and can therefore be covered on foot very easily.
Bareuzai Square
This sector extends between the different main squares of the city, namely the Darcy, Republic, October 30, Wilson, Saint-Bernard and May 1 squares.
For my part, I recommend that you head towards Place Grangier, Place Darcy, Place des Cordeliers or the Antique dealers district, typical of Dijon. These places are central and quite charming.
Montchapet district
If you want a quieter, more residential area and more accessible by car, then I recommend the Montchapet district. Beautiful residences, free parking spaces and easy access from the motorway coming from Paris. You can also reach the city center on foot in about ten minutes; otherwise bus lines serve this area regularly.
Youth district
Here is a district at the gates of the city center. Easily accessible by car from the north of Dijon, or by tram, you can opt for this district if you plan to stay for a slightly longer period or if you are looking for more affordable accommodation. You will find many amenities (supermarkets, restaurants, bars, etc.) and free parking spaces. This district also serves the Toison d'Or, a large regional shopping center with more than 130 shops and around twenty restaurants.
You will also be ideally placed to go to places such as the Palais des Congrès, the Auditorium, the Palais des Sports or the Ecole Nationale des Greffes. If you are going to Dijon for a congress, you can look at the Mercure de Dijon hotel, located opposite the Palais des Congrès de Dijon.

South suburb
Let's continue with this district located south of Dijon and therefore easily accessible from the motorway coming from Lyon. You will also be at the gates of Dijon, with Place Wilson as a boundary. Let's finish with a part of Dijon which is not very touristic but which can represent advantages in certain precise situations: if you need to go to the faculty of Dijon, if you have to go to the CHU of Dijon, if you have things to to do in the area (Quétigny area, football stadium and ice rink, etc.) or if you are simply stopping off in Dijon, the campus is a few meters from the ring road.
Sleep outside of Dijon
