Presentation of the Dijon city-pass

Why visit Dijon?

First of all, it may be good to specify that this city-pass is offered directly by the Dijon tourist office, so it is an official pass to discover Dijon.
Dijon, capital of Burgundy, is a city offering many tourist visits. The architectural heritage is worth the detour: between small cobbled streets and mansions, Dijon invites its visitors to discover a rich and well-kept city.
In addition to this exceptional heritage, Dijon is located in the middle of Burgundy wines. The wine coast south of Dijon is one of the most famous in the world.
As you can see, Dijon deserves your full attention! As much for its culture, its wines as for the gastronomy.

Dijon city pass

We will see in a following section that the Dijon city-pass offers you the possibility of visiting a large number of tourist sites in and around Dijon.
Indeed, between the artistic museums, the museums relating to the local gastronomy, the castles and other perfectly maintained buildings or the wine estates, it is a stay of several days that will have to be organized to have time to see everything what this city has in store for you.
A city-pass is characterized by different elements. First of all the visits and offers that are included in it (is it really advantageous or is it better to prefer to pay for each visit independently). But also the validity period of this pass.
The Dijon city-pass is available in 3 versions: a city-pass valid for 24 hours, another valid for 48 hours and a last one valid for 72 hours.
Some visits are common to the 3 passes, others are specific to the 2 longest passes (48 hours and 72 hours). We will detail the visits included in each pass right after!

These are simply great meals organized at the Château du Clos de Vougeot at different times of the year by a prestigious brotherhood: La Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin. It meets regularly to celebrate the wines of Burgundy, in a very traditional and festive atmosphere. At each Chapter, renowned personalities participate and this attracts enthusiasts from all over the world. If you wish to participate in a Chapter, you must first plan several months in advance. You must also either be a Chevalier du Tastevin or be invited by a Chevalier. If you are lucky enough to attend a Chapter, you will understand the prestige of this ceremony!

Which city pass to choose?

After having presented you with the different Dijon city-passes, their prices and the many visits included in each of the passes, it is now a question of making a choice. I advise you to ask yourself two main questions in order to choose the best option:

  • How much time do I have?
  • What visits do I absolutely want to do?

Several scenarios arise:

Visit the essentials of Dijon

In this case, opt for the city-pass valid for 24 hours. You will be able to access the most emblematic tourist sites of the city, while staying in the city center of Dijon. In one day you will have time to see a number of activities. Please note that visits to museums such as the Museum of Fine Arts or the Magnin Museum may take a little longer to visit than other activities.

City-pass Dijon: the tourist pass of Dijon

You have 2 days to visit Dijon and its surroundings

In this case, the pass valid for 48 hours is ideal. It gives you access to both the essentials of Dijon. And it also allows you to visit the essentials of the Burgundy wine coast. This will give you a rather complete overview of the tourist region between Dijon and Beaune. Given the number of tourist sites included in the 48-hour pass, I nevertheless think that you will have to make a selection of the sites that you absolutely want to visit.

You are coming to Dijon for at least 3 days

No hesitation, take the city-pass valid for 72 hours. It is very complete and offers various and varied visits in a fairly wide radius around Dijon. You will therefore know Dijon, the wine coast and typical and emblematic places of the region.

You are coming for 1 or 2 day(s) to Dijon, but you know the city

What can be smart, in this case, is to look at what you actually want to visit and look at the individual entry prices. It may be that buying a 48 or 72 hour pass (even if you stay only 24 or 48 hours) is more advantageous than paying for the visits individually! All you have to do is schedule your visits and calculate what is most profitable for you.

My opinion on buying a city-pass to visit Dijon

I validate 100% this city-pass to visit Dijon! The prices for the 3 options are quite reasonable, the visits included in them are very interesting and are part of the emblematic and unmissable places of Dijon and in addition, they are intelligently designed. The shorter you stay, the closer you stay to Dijon. And the more time you have, the more the city-pass invites you to discover the surroundings of Dijon!
And given the prices, even if you don't use the pass for the entire period of validity, you have to take into account the fact that public transport is included in it.
