Today, when we want to go on a trip, in France or abroad, we all have the same reflex: Internet. Compare prices, read travelers' opinions, find the most advantageous offer or simply be inspired ... In 2017, the web is a gold mine for travelers.

But if you look back 20 years, things weren't that simple. Certainly, the fashionable summer destinations in France have not changed: the Côte d'Azur, the Vendée and the Basque Country still attracts as many juillettists and Augustans. For those who have desires elsewhere, the Maghreb is also still popular, as are the Hispanic islands such as the Canaries or the Balearics. In fact, in 20 years, it is not the destinations that have evolved.

A rather funny and successful video published by GoVoyages allows us to better understand what the summer holidays looked like in 1997. Nothing to do with 2017… or almost!

Do we eat breakfast or take a picture of it?

When you were enjoying your croissants while reading my morning newspaper back in the day, you tend to have a hearty breakfast that you take a picture of and post it on social media today.

And rather than a compilation dance in K7 or CD, it's your smartphone that you connect to your car radio to enjoy your summer playlist! And since technology is now omnipresent, how can we not talk about the GPS that replaced the shouting of our parents when they were looking for the right route on a huge map?

Fortunately, while there are many aspects that have changed dramatically in our vacation, it is good to know that other things are still on the agenda. For a tanning session on the sand, a water fight in the waves or a drink with friends, “1997-2017 same fight”!
