Where to sleep in Malaga? The choice of neighborhood

Downtown neighborhoods

Accommodation in the city center of Malaga

As in many cities, the city center is the most popular area for housing. The rule is again respected, even if many peripheral districts can also be good choices.
The center has a large number of accommodations to sleep in, as well as bars, restaurants and countless shops.
The center of Malaga is located west of the Gibralfaro fortress and north of the beach bounded by the large park of Malaga.
The main advantage of accommodation in the city center of Malaga is that it is possible to visit the city on foot, without any means of transport. This is also the case if you are staying in the Malagueta district, which we will tell you about just below.

Malagueta

Located between the beach and the city center, Malagueta is the perfect place to stay in Malaga. Whether you want to take a lazy break on the warm sand or visit the main historical monuments, everything can be done on foot. It is also the busiest and most popular district of the capital of the Costa del Sol. It has a multitude of tapas bars, restaurants and nightclubs. A passage through the Plaza de Toros is essential to marvel at the neo-Mudéjar style of the arenas, or to attend bullfights and concerts. While strolling around the marina, visit the Alborania Museum to learn about marine life in the Alboran Sea.

Trinidad

Bordered by the Guadalmedina river and surrounded by Hispano-Arab walls, the Old Town district is home to buildings with typical Andalusian architecture. Walking through the pedestrian streets turns out to be a real exploration in time. You can admire the Roman and Moorish remains, but also go shopping in fashion stores of the biggest international brands. Behind the old stones hide refined lofts and comfortable apartments, which make Trinidad the best place to explore Malága without leaving the center.

The outskirts of the city center

El Palo

For a total change of scenery, get away from it all in El Palo to the east of the Andalusian capital. As the Malága coastline is urbanized from one end of the city to the other, beachgoers, revelers and shopping enthusiasts will enjoy this typical fishing district. Lively and enjoying a family atmosphere, El Palo will satisfy gourmets with its churros bars and its auction market.

Pedregalejo

Treat yourself to a relaxing break in Pedregalejo, just 4 km east of the city centre. This chic district where a peaceful atmosphere reigns will charm you with its sandy beach, bordered by a pleasant avenue conducive to strolling. Beach games, tasting fish and seafood on the terrace facing the marina, drinking a sangria to the sound of flamenco, etc. : immersing yourself in Spanish life and being woken up by the waves is an accessible dream in Pedregalejo!

Huelin

The district of Huelin, to the west, is only 4 km from the historic center of Malága. You will be instantly seduced by its urban beaches and its interesting cultural offer, as well as its family atmosphere. This quiet area has a green 32 m000 park where children can have fun in the playground while parents relax by the lake. In Huelin, you will have the privilege of easily finding accommodation facing the sea.

Pinares de San Antón

If you are looking for a natural environment, set your sights on this residential area perched on Mount San Antón among the pine trees. Located 5 km east of the city center, Pinares de San Antón hides spectacular villas for an idyllic holiday, but also smaller modern houses for couples or solo adventurers. To reach the beach and visit the city, you can rely on Malága's excellent public transport network.
