Sablon et Marolles: bourgeois or working-class neighborhoods

To the south of the Grand Place, are the beautiful districts of the city, and in particular the Sablon district and its magnificent bourgeois houses. If the weather is nice, stop in the very pretty little Sablon park. Do you prefer working-class neighborhoods? Take a walk around the Marolles! If it gets a bit sore, there is always a nice flea market there on Sunday mornings.

Drink, eat and go out in Brussels

During your weekend in Brussels, discover Belgian gastronomy and experience unforgettable evenings!

The essential “mussels and fries”

The traditional Belgian dish being the famous mussels and fries, it would be a shame to deprive yourself. If almost all restaurants serve it, the restaurant La Bonne Humeur, founded in 1954, has long been a benchmark. While it closed in 2016, Viva M'Boma is another excellent address, which also serves other Belgian specialties.

North Sea specialties

The Belgian coast is not only known for mussels, but also for others shellfish and crustaceans. Accompanied by a glass of white wine - for a change of beer - the gray shrimp fritters and other small bites served at La Mer du Nord will help you understand why this restaurant is always full. It is fully booked right down to the outdoor tables, and even when it's cold!

In the evening

A pleasant area to end your day and start your evening is that of halls of Saint-Géry. Formerly, it was a covered market, but today it is a cultural center. All around, you will find many bars open quite late and in which the atmosphere is high!
