Highlights

  • Done in English

It is difficult to see orcas or killer whales at this time of year as they are still in the salmon hunting season in the Pacific Ocean. However, because nature is unpredictable, there is always a chance that these majestic marine mammals will be in the area when you pass by. You might also be lucky enough to see some members of the transient orca population that are also known to swim in the waters near Victoria. But regardless of the chances of seeing an orca, there is an awesome experience waiting for you.

The California sea lions, weighing 225 pounds, lie on the rocks catching the last rays of the sun after a hard day of fishing. Dall's Porpoise darts swiftly forward and backward from the bow of your boat. Bald eagles swoop down and land on a rock face overlooking the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Killer whales (Orca) perform acrobatics. Victoria in British Columbia on Vancouver Island is surrounded by some of the most beautiful seascapes that the west coast of British Columbia has to offer.

Seabirds, such as the great blue heron could be stalked in the turquoise waters in a quiet cove. Lighthouses, rugged rock archipelagos, and unique ecosystems are part of what makes the Pacific Northwest so famous.
