Presentation of the Seville Aquarium

Built in 2014, the Seville Aquarium is one of the most modern and recent in the country. It has more than 40 basins where 7 marine and land animals live, divided into 000 species.
The visit to the aquarium retraces the journey around the globe of Magellan, a XNUMXth century Portuguese navigator and explorer. Magellan undertook many trips, including one around the globe.

Magellan's Journey
Magellan's journey begins on August 10, 1519. The explorer leaves the city of Seville with 5 ships and with the aim of taking new, still unknown routes. The expedition first takes the cape of the Canary Islands, before embarking on the crossing of the Atlantic Ocean and thus reaching the South American coasts. After skirting Patagonia, it is across the Pacific Ocean that Magellan and his crew sail. It was at this time that Magellan discovered new lands, such as the Philippines. It is unfortunately in this country that he will lose his life during a confrontation with a local tribe.
The rest of the crew will eventually return to Seville after 3 years of travel.

The visit to the aquarium therefore follows the path of the explorer. The different species are divided into eight worlds corresponding to particular regions.

  • Guadalquivir
The first world is therefore articulated around the local fauna, that of the Guadalquivir (the river that crosses Seville) and the Doñana National Park.
  • Atlantic
Direction the second largest ocean on the planet, from the Atlantic coasts of Andalusia to the American coasts via the Canary Islands and their incredible biodiversity.
  • Rainforest
Direction the tropical zone, one of the wettest areas on the planet with an average temperature of 25 degrees. Discover terrestrial animals like certain reptiles.
  • The ocean
Discover the largest aquarium in the Iberian Peninsula. A pool more than 9 meters deep hosting impressive species such as bull sharks or sea turtles.
  • Quiet
Learn more about this strange marine animal, the jellyfish. Discover no less than 12 species of jellyfish, each more amazing than the next
  • Indian and Pacific Oceans
An area that will make you discover the impressive biodiversity of the Indian and Pacific zone with countless species of fish of all colors.
  • Mangrove
Dive between land and sea, the mangrove shelters a unique and fabulous ecosystem.
  • The end of the road
After the tour, you can enjoy the last three facilities: the aquarium in the wetland area, the turtle tank and the tropical sights.

La Seville Aquarium Tour is most pleasant through these eight worlds: you will discover many marine species.

My opinion on the Seville Aquarium

I had heard several times about the Seville Aquarium. During my second stay in Seville, I decided to visit the aquarium and thus form an opinion on it.
I was surprised by this visit which I particularly appreciated. The visit to the Seville aquarium, which is orchestrated around Magellan's voyage, takes us through and discovers the different marine species of the globe. The aquarium has many species, some very impressive. The large pool 9 meters deep is also surprising!
If you are staying several days in Seville, then visiting this aquarium can be a real good idea. In addition, the entrance price is very reasonable, almost half the price of the Valencia aquarium. A visit to this aquarium will delight young and old alike. It is also a very good way to escape for a few moments from the sometimes boring heat of the city of Seville, while enjoying a pleasant and instructive moment. I therefore strongly recommend that you visit the Seville Aquarium.
