After about 90 minutes we will reach the UNESCO-listed Sanctuary of Asklepios with its on-site museum and the Theater of Epidaurus, one of the most visited ancient sites in Greece. Take all the time you need to visit this impressive site a XNUMX-minute drive from the historic port of Nafplio, Greece's first capital, with a charming Venetian quarter nestled below the towering Palamidi castle. Continuing after lunch, you will head to Mycenae, home to the citadel of the legendary Agamemnon, leader of the Greeks against the Trojans during the Trojan War. The "Mycenaean period" from 1600 to 1100 BC. AD, refers to this ancient city, indicating its importance in Greek civilization. Cross the imposing 6-metre (20-foot) long ramparts, enter Agamemnon's throne room through the Lion's Gate and explore the administrative and service buildings, tombs and the incredible treasury of Atreus, as well as the first-class museum on site before your return to Athens.
