A highlight of your visit to Cordoba is the visit to the Catholic Cathedral, converted from a mosque that the Christians conquered in Cordoba in 1236. With almost 1.000 pillars, the origin of the Gothic cathedral is combined with baroque and renaissance elements. You will see the remarkable Cardinal's Chapel and its treasures, including an ivory crucifix and important carvings and paintings.
Then you will visit the old Jewish quarter, step back in time to the times of the Romans and the Goths. You will see one of the few existing synagogues in Spain today, built in 1315, as well as many important monuments to the most important sons of Cordoba, including the Roman philosopher Seneca, Arabian philosopher Averroes and the Jewish philosopher Maimonides.
