The climb
Depart from the base headquarters at Kangaroo Point to travel to the halfway house. Commentary begins and continues throughout the climb, telling the story of Brisbane and its most famous bridge with many interesting facts and figures.

The road then climbs through road level to the arm anchor on the east side of the bridge. Here, the gradient is at its maximum as you make your way to the top of the platform, one of the two highlights of the climb. Each climb is approximately 80 meters in altitude. It is from here that you will have a breathtaking 360 degree view of Brisbane, its river and its surrounding mountains.

From the eastern summit of the platform, the route gradually descends along the eastern cantilever arm towards the central platform. The latter will allow you to travel the width of the bridge at a height of six lanes of traffic. Once on the cantilevered west arm, climbers begin the gradual ascent to the western summit of the platform, for another opportunity to soak up the views. The route then continues down the west anchor arm of the back deck across the road bridge to the halfway house where the grade is steepest.

The highlights of the climb:
From the top of the bridge, climbers will enjoy uninterrupted 360 degree views of Brisbane at dusk, its river, surrounding hills and mountains.

  • To the east, view of Moreton Bay: the largest sandy bay
  • To the north, the Serre Mountains named by Captain Cook in 1770
  • To the west, Mount Coot-tha and Brisbane Forest Park
  • To the south, Lamington National Park, a World Heritage Site
  • And beyond, the Brisbane River, one of Australia's deepest, which meanders its way to the Pacific Ocean
