In high season, except campsites, demand tends to exceed (reduced) supply. There is only one solution to avoid your spout in the water: reserve.

If wild camping is prohibited, the améuns grounds are open all year round but, in winter, it is advisable to call before because there will be no one on site. Many are managed by the municipalities (often the least well equipped), but some are private.
All have electricity, nearly all have showers and a large half of them have a kitchen and laundry facilities. Two campsites in Eysturoy and one in Sandoy even have a hot tub!
Notice to fans of camping-car en route to Iceland: in the Faroe Islands, it is forbidden to spend the night in your vehicle in town or on the side of a road; it is mandatory to settle in a campsite.
Several stores sell gas cartridges ; the tourist office publishes the list on its website (section Plan your stay / Accomodation).
There are only 3 youth hostels in the 4 beds), we share the sanitary facilities and we have access to a kitchen - more or less well equipped depending on the location. Book!
Guesthouses, hotels and rentals
By trying to rest or at least very simple, even shared sanitary facilities.
The best hotels are very comfortable, in a clean Scandinavian style, but they are also excruciatingly expensive ...
For better value for money, we would recommend that you shop on Airbnb. The range of rooms, apartments and houses is quite large, with still affordable rates and options throughout the archipelago (and especially on the big island of Streymoy).
On the other hand, don't necessarily expect warm encounters: sometimes the keys are on the door and you can't see the owners at all!
When making your choice, be sure to check whether or not a cleaning fee is required.
